Magnificent three door mahogany china cabinet or bookcase with stunning inlaid marquetry made around 1880/1890. I found no label but it is certainly the quality and manner of R J Horner or comparable company both in the inlaid marquetry, selection of high quality veneers, construction and form. The marquetry is composed of several wood species, some of which are tulip poplar, kingwood, satinwood, sycamore. I purchased this item out of a small museum in south Alabama.

The original wavy door glass is intact in all panels. The door mullions are inlaid with kingwood and satinwood stringing. The original surface is a shellac coating that has been lightly cleaned to reveal the beauty of the inlay. The shelving is glass and the back is fully mirrored. The surfaces are clean and smooth. You can see some crazing in areas which is expected and desired. The shelving is glass and I do not know if they are original.

A truly fantastic piece which is 60 inches wide, 52 inches tall and 17 inches deep.
