This single door armoire or wardrobe has a single door with a beautifully shaped beveled glass mirror. The piece is total and original. The interior is maple and birds eye maple. It is clean, with the original finish intact. It only needs to be waxed. The wood is birch and sweet gum which was stained at the factory with a water base dye to impart the beautiful and warm mahogany color. Made around 1880-1900.
The bottom drawer has the original glass knobs with heavy brass ferules. The interior has one upper shelf with triple prong hooks for hanging. These armoires are often converted by the addition of full interior shelving. This is a good thing as long as no damage is done to the piece. This is a good piece not the simple, poorly made common grade.
We have seen these converted to gun cabinets or display cabinets by removing the mirror and installing clear glass in the door.
This is strong and solid awaiting for us to find the time to clean and wax the item. Price includes cleaning and waxing. No repairs needed and no old repairs have been found.
