Magnificent American oak and quarter sawn oak victorian sideboard or buffet. This was designed and manufactured by the Wm Becker Co in Cincinnati around 1875-1885. It has the original paper label on the back. Cincinnati produced some very fine items of furniture in the mid to late 19th century. This sideboard is no exception. If you are looking for a fine large and elegant oak sideboard, this is the one. Would be wonderful in a home or office.
The lower section is covered with bold and elegant leafy carvings on the four doors and the two top outside drawers. The two central framed drawers are flat faced with quartered wood grain for visual impact. The upper section shelf support are vase or urn shaped reeded turnings. The lower shelf supports are ball shaped with spiral reeding. Two large mirrors are under an umbrella of more bold and elegant leafy carvings.
The keyhole covers that are not on the piece are in the drawer. We have not had time to do anything but set this beauty in place. This item from a New York estate that I purchased at auction in Danville, VA. It wears the original coating which shows usage at the center of the top and the center of the shelf. Nothing that cannot be remedied if one desires.
Priced as shown but with hardware put back on, polished, touched up where needed.
I will get measurements listed but it is over 7 feet wide and tall.
