What A Fabulous 1930's Reliable 18"Shirley Temple doll. She has a wonderful in her all original Reliable ST tagged dress that I have never seen before! It is in wonderful condition! I bought her from a seller in Canada.
The Canadian Shirley Temple dolls vary in looks and differ from the dolls made in the US. She has a really cute face with wonderful dimples. Her eyes are blue instead of hazel/green. The wig is lighter. She is all original and in excellent condition.
Her hair/wig retains its original set although a little flat from storage.
There is one craze line on the left side of the lower belly and some paint loss at the joints where the limbs rub.
There is a dress similar to this one in Tonya B. Camaratta's Shirley Temple guide book. It is found i Chapter 4, "Foreign Shirley Temple Dolls" on pg. 80.
UPDATE: Regarding this Canadian Reliable Shirley Temple doll and her rare
dress.. I found a couple of exciting things about it. First I
found there is an inner tag with "18" on it. The 18 isn't real
bright, but it is clearly there. Then, I found in Edward
Pardello's Shirley Temple Collector's Guide on pg 38 a featured Canadian Reliable
dress with the exact circle and flower pattern as this dress on the
apron of that dress . Do you have that book? If so, check it out!
So the original dress on this ST Reliable doll is what i believe to be a very
rare Canadian version of the Littlest Rebel dress from 1935. I don't know if any other's exist!
I bet you don't have this one in your collection - such a unique find!
