A fabulous Laszlo Ispanky porcelain figurine of a pair of donkey or mule heads, possible the mother and colt. Circa 1969-76. It measures approximately 7" tall and 5" wide. Excellent condition, no chips, hairlines or paint loss. This is a hard to find item.
A brief history of the artist Laszlo Ispanky. He was Born 1919 in Budapest Hungry, he was famous for his many sculptures in his birth country. In 1956 he emigrated to the United States and his fame proceeded him and he was welcomed with open arms, and a fellowship to the Cranbrook academy of art in Deerfield MI to study and teach sculpting. In 60 he became master sculptor at Cybis Porcelains. He started his own company with partner George Utley in 66, two years later he moved Pennington NJ and his company became Ispanky Porcelain Ltd.
Ispanky was internationally renowned for his ability to duplicate an individual's exact likeness. He made animal, religious figures, politicians, sport figures and many other figurines, he worked with stone, wood, bronze, silver and of course porcelain. His quality pieces was given and well received by dignitary's, heads of states, president and even princess Grace of Monaco. He received numerous awards and honors throughout his lifetime for his high quality workmanship. He passed away July 9, 2010 at the age 90.
