A wonderful 1930's 16" Ideal Composition Shirley Temple doll with two tagged costumes! The NRA tagged "Bright Eyes" plaid schoolgirl dress is in excellent condition. The silk neck sash is frayed, but otherwise very good. This dress is featured on pg 17 of The Complete Guide to Shirley Temple Dolls by Tonya Bervaldi-Camaratta. This is the dress that little Shirley Temple was wearing in her movie "Bright Eyes" when she was on the school bus and sang "On the good ship, Lollipop"! Such a wonderful scene - makes me smile just remembering it.
The second tagged "Stand up & Cheer" dress (one of the variation prints) comes with the original matching hat and was part of the trunk wardrobe set (pg 41 same book). It is in excellent condition! The print on both of the labels is good and bright.
The composition on the Shirley doll is in great condition with just some very light crazing. There are two craze lines next to one eye as shown. Her original wig is good and full and has some lovely curls. It was washed and reset but could use some more styling to make it look more like the original set. Her body is in excellent condition with only minimal wear. She has the Ideal Shirley Temple marks on the back of her neck and on her neck.
Shirley has her white one piece cotton onesie (panties-slip combo) and I think her socks are original. The oilcloth shoes are vintage replacements. She comes with a Shirley Temple pin (not shown). Ready to display or to make a great addition to your trunk set!
