1930's Composition Dionne Quintuplet Dolls, Probably Effanbee
A wonderful set of 1930's Dionne Quintuplets composition dolls. I believe the maker to be Effanbee but they are unmarked. They are 8" tall and are in very good condition.
There is a full set of five dolls, each with solid domed composition socket head, painted toddler hair and toddler facial features with wide blue eyes, button nose, tiny rosebud mouth, five piece composition toddler body. Each Wear darling cotton dress with lace trim and matching bonnets.Although unlicensed as the Dionne Quintuplets, the Effanbee Baby Tinyette and others was often presented as a set of five, suggesting a portrayal of the popular 1930Õs celebrity children. Effanbee, circa 1935.
There is some light crazing on some of their faces and a little on the bodies. One doll has a deep craze line on the buttocks, another has a short seam separation on the inside thigh. One Quint has some paint loss on the eye. There is some exterior paint loss on the legs and feet. Their clothing appears all original and is in great condition. The costumes have probably never been laundered and some shelf dust is apparent. I have added some vintage Ginny shoes and slouch socks to complete their look.
