What a wonderful antique teddy. This 13" golden mohair teddy bear is straw filled (or kapok - feels stiff & crunchy like straw) and has a non working growler in the upper left chest. It has a long snout, stitched nose and mouth and original felt pads and glass eyes. No makers label/button present. Seems like a very old bear - perhaps ca 1915-1920's era. Sold to me as an antique German bear - which seems correct. But I am not an expert in this area and helpful info will be very much appreciated.
It has disc jointed arms, legs and head. There is an area on the back of the head that looks like a tag or some other form of identification was at one time (see pic) but this may just be a sewn repair. There is a minor repair was done to the back of the right leg near the hip, there are a few stitches there.
This Teddy has minor wear as shown but generally in very good condition.
Reminds me of the old storybook version of Christopher Robins' Pooh Bear.. Very sweet!
