This is a lovely and unusual hexagonal shaped Japanese Arita porcelain vase with the Fukagawa 'Mountain and Stream' trademark in underglaze blue on the bottom. The decoration is underglaze blue leaves accented with gilt as the backdrop for the vibrant, light yellow flowers with red and a hint of green in the center, then outlined with gilt. The vase measures 4 3/4 inches high and 5 inches at the widest part of the shoulder. The upper rim is approximately 1/4 inch high, with a 2 inch opening at the widest, and has gilt on the top that shows wear. The foot rim is 2 3/4 inches at the widest point. The vase dates to the mid 20th century - circa 1950. The piece is in very good condition with a very tiny flake on the rim, a couple of light surface scratches and some wear of the gilt, particularly on the rim as mentioned. There are no cracks, repairs or restorations.
