Embossed and Tinted Postcard of Horse Drawn Fire EngineEmbossed and Tinted Postcard of Horse Drawn Fire EngineEmbossed and Tinted Postcard of Horse Drawn Fire Engine

This is an unusual embossed postcard of a horse drawn fire engine. It is titled "Engine Going to a Fire." The engine itself has silver tinting. It is also tinted around the necks of the three white horses.

It was mailed with a one cent stamp. The year is not clear on the cancellation stamp. It does show "Fire Dep't Series P1400" and "Printed in Germany" with a publisher logo of S.L. & Co. The logo is for Samuel Langdorf & Company of New York, in business from 1906-1918. Their postcards were often elaborately tinted and printed in Germany.

Condition: Normal handling wear but no damage. It does look like it was kept in an album at one time.

Item ID: PP-4240
