This is a roll bus or Trolley destination sign for Ohio State University and locations within Columbus. The roll is printed on linen and is all original. The metal roller is in original paint and was attached behind glass on the front of the bus. Through a window on the back the driver could also read the destination. This is from the early 1900's.
The holder is 29 1/2" long x 5" thick x 15 1/4" high when mounted in the table top stand we had made for it. Originally you would crank a handle to turn the roll but all the gears were stripped inside so we had the brass knobs added to make changing destinations easy.
