A nicely detailed pair of cast iron andirons in the form of a dog, we believe to be Cavalier King Spaniels. The dogs are in the sitting position as if ready to get treats. The andirons are cast in two parts, the dogs and fancy leg stands and the back firewood resting piece. They are pretty much fused together with age. The casting is solid with no cracks chips or rust through. They have a nice old surface and are very sturdy.
The front castings are 13" high x 7 3/4" wide and the wood rests extend back 15 1/8". The front castings are 1 1/4" thick at the thickest point, the dogs nose. The back rests are 1 1/4" x 3/4" thick and would hold the wood 5 3/4" off the floor below.
Nice solid American castings each weighing 11 lbs. 6 oz.
