A true piece of folk art. This is a wonderfully carved wooden arm with a movable pinned joint at the elbow and wrist. The arm is pose-able in several directions as is the hand, we had a wall mount constructed so that the arm can point in just about any direction. The carved wooden arm came from a collection of carousel items made by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC), however this piece could not be identified with a particular ride. the PTC company also constructed carnival games and this may have been a part of one of those. The joints are mortised and held with a wooden pin. the detail on the hand is amazing, overall the piece is in very good condition with some very minor wear. There are no traces of any paint on the arm.
The arm is 28" long and 4 1/2" wide and when mounted on the wall extends out from the wall 4 1/2". The arm can pretty much point in any direction and is supported by a thin metal wire that is flexible if you wish to display the arm in a bent position.
