A wonderfully painted wooden country store tobacco box from the Restorer Tobacco Company possibly from Philadelphia, PA. This box is painted on both ends with the Restorer logo and has a wonderful old surface. The box was more than likely used to store leaf tobacco for the store to sell or use to roll cigars or make chew. The box is made of all wood and has wear as would be expected from a box from the 1800's. We found it in the deep south but paint on the lid indicates someone from Minneapolis, Minn. owned it at one time.
The paint is all original with fragments of the original leather hinge, now has old iron hinges, and has a hasp for a lock, valuable stuff! There is wear to the wood with very small opening on the one corner otherwise amazing very sturdy condition.
The box is 48 3/4" long x 24" deep and 22" high.
