A fantastic wooden Champagne Bottle Trade Sign painted green and black. The bottle is constructed like a barrel with tongue and grove boards around a wooden frame. The outside is gesso painted green around bottle and black around the neck to simulate a foil wrap, there is braided rope around the neck to look like the wire on a bottle.
The bottle is possibly French but then most good champagne is. It stands 72" tall x 24" across the bottle base. It weighs less than 100 lbs. The condition is as would be expected from a late 19th century to early 20th century trade sign, some wear but still stands solid. Three boards on the back side are replaced possibly they were originally not there so the bottle could be hung at a slight angle. We found this in a eccentric collection in Georgia, USA.
