For your consideration, I offer a patent dated June 7, 1881 cast brass counterweight for a Victorian hanging oil lamp. This piece was patented by Edson L. Bryant as Assignee to Wallace & Sons, Ansonia, Ct. This is a really heavy, sturdy counterweight. It has delicately etch flowers and vines on both sides of the piece. I know there is a catalog that was issued by this company showing their hanging lamps. I have enclosed the patent information for this piece which shows the type of lamp it was used on. The measurements are: 7 1/4 inches wide, 4 1/4 inches high. The wheels for the hanging chain are securely factory fastened within the counterweight. This is a scarce counterweight and I hope there is someone out in oil lamp collectors land who has been searching for it. I did clean off as best I could as it was quite dirty. It is in very good shape for the age. Please check my shop for other items of interest and send an email if you have any questions.
