For your consideration I offer this very pretty blue miniature oil lamp shade. This shade was made for a small stem lamp by the Belmont Glass Co.,Ohio, c1884. Belmont identified the pattern as their No. 120. It is known by collectors by three pattern names: Cathedral; Carlisle: Reflecting Fans.
The first volume of the Frank & Ruth Smith Miniature Lamps shows the complete lamp as Figure 480. It came in blue or yellow with the stem base coming in two versions, all solid color or bi-color with a clear font and colored stem and foot. The measurements are the shade are: the fitter rim is the standard mini size of 1/ 7/9 o.d. The shade is 2 1/4 inches tall to the highest point of the scallops. This is a very heavy pressed glass pattern and the thick rims of the pattern are factory rough. The glass has good clarity and there are no chips or cracks. The shades are usually a lot harder to find than the bases and I have held on to this one for a long time. Please check my shop for a couple of other mini lamp shades and other items of interest. Send an email if you have any questions.
