For your consideration, I offer this little milk glass miniature oil lamp base which came with burner, wick, and shade ring. This is an early 20th century lamp that has a screw on collar. The pattern is known by two different names: Block and Dot and also Mission Octagon. The pattern was shown in catalog ads circa 1912 and came with a few different types of shades. Please reference Frank & Ruth Smith's firs book on mini lamps: Miniature Oil Lamps, Figure 190. I believe that this base once had an octagon shape ball type shade as I know the burner and ring were original. The burner and ring were quite dirty when I purchased this lamp base and I cleaned them up somewhat. The lamp is approximately 4 3/4 inches tall to the top of the burner. The round foot is 2 3/4 inches in diameter. The little Acorn type old burner is unmarked. with the naked eye but with a strong magnifying glass there is faint evidence of a name or date on the wick wheel rim. There are no chips or cracks.
