For you consideration I offer this old Victorian era, circa late 1880s-1890s brass smoke bell for a Victorian hanging oil lamp. This smoke bell was so dirty when I got it that I could not bring myself to sell it that way so I cleaned and hand polished. It was black on the inside from smoke from the burner of the lamp and very dirty on the outside. Now, it is so clean it looks brand new but it is not. It also has the "s" hook that was on it to hang it from the lamp. These bells were mostly used on parlor lamps with brass frames, prisms and 14 inch shades. It measures four inches in diameter.and about an inch and an eighth deep to the top of the bell it would add about one half an inch with the hanger in the upright position. It is in good shape.
