For your consideration, I offer this old brass small skater's lantern which is in the original oil condition. It was used and still has a lot of dirt here and there that could be cleaned up if the buyer wishes. Personally, I think the used condition makes it a more charming reminder of times gone by.
These little lantern oil lamps are considered miniature lamps by the lamp collecting groups but I suspect they may have been used by adults as well when skating on the ice during the winter. The lantern dates from the late 19th century to possibly early 20th. An old wick is still inside. The wick riser knob works well. The lantern is not marked on the wheel. It stands approximately 7 inches tall to the top of the brass cone top. With the handle raised up, it is eleven inches tall. There are a few minor dents on the cone top from use. The bottom of the font is tin as this is the way they were made. I let water set in it for several hours and it did not leak. Any lines you see in the glass chimney globe, are from the two seams in the glass mold. Both rims of the glass are factory rough ground. There are no cracks.
