For your consideration I offer a seldom seen Meriden Bronze Company oil lamp font with a scarce and unique Air Distributor/Flame Spreader as shown in J. W. Courter's book" Center Draft Kerosene Lamps 1880-1940".This spreader is NOT removable for trimming the wick. The brass on this font is quite heavy. It probably was made by Edward Miller. The font measures 3 1/2 inches tall to the shoulder and the base is 4 3/4 inches o,.d. I could not find any markings anywhere. The old wick is inside. The lamp was quite dirty with dried oil and I cleaned it up as best I could. The wick riser works O.K. but does not engage in the old wick which seemed to be firmly adhered to the center post. I did not try to force the wick to move as I assume it is pretty fragile for a font this old, late 1880s-1890. There is one small dent on the bottom edge of the font. Otherwise it appears to be in good shape. Check my shop for other items of interest and send me an email if you have any questions.
