Patent 1867 Early Skater's Oil Lantern - For Parts - image 1 of 9

For your consideration, I offer some very good remaining parts of an 1867 early skater's lantern. There were more than one size made in these early lanterns that would have been carried around while ice skating so if you are looking for certain parts to complete yours, be sure to check the measurements. The whole lantern when assembled is 9 inches tall overall. These little lantern globes are almost impossible to find. All the lanterns I have remaining have either big chips or are cracked. The globe has a fitter rim of approximately 2 inches o.d. and a top fitter of 1 5/8 inches. It is 3 1/2 inches tall. Both rims are factory ground with the top rim having a sliver chip on the very top outside edge in one spot. This does not affect the screwing in of the brass top cone. The top cone has the original screening inside but no chain. It is stamped with the patent dates but the year numbers were not clearly pressed into the brass but they are: "PATd Dec 24 1867. It is in good condition These little lanterns became quite popular right after the end of the Civil War. There is no burner. The base is in good condition. It has an approximate 7/8 inch threaded opening. Inside the font the original screening and wadding is there. This was to prevent a fire should the lantern be dropped or should the skater fall while carrying it. Please send an email if you have any questions.
