I offer another miniature oil lamp shade which I have held on to for a long time but since I am winding down now, I offer it for your consideration.
The little shade pattern is called Beaded Swirl and the colors are a deep ruby or blood red and a cream white spatter glass. The shade is four and a half inches tall; bottom fitter is one and a half inches o.d. and top flared rim is two and a half inches o.d. The complete lamp is picture in the first volume of Frank & Ruth Smith's: Miniature Oil Lamps book, Figure 369. This is really a type of art glass in my opinion. If you look closely at the pictures of the bottom and top rims, you can see there is more than one layer of glass which we call cased or encased glass. The inner layer is the colored glass. layer and there is a thick outside layer of crystal clear glass. It appears to give a little three dimensional appearance. This shade is what we call a chimney shade. It fits right over the oil lamp burner. For this lamp, this would be an American burner called a Hornet burner. They are usually commonly found and the burners also have been reproduced. I do not have an extra one at this time. The bottom rim of the shade is factory ground and the top rim is factory ground and polished. I just the minor flaking from this process. There are no cracks. Check my shop for other items of interest and send an email with any questions. I double box these fragile glass items for safety in transit. .Note: Per Ruby Lane rules, I can't list this item as Antique if I am selling for under $100, so I have to list it as Vintage for this reason. It is an antique.
