For your consideration, I offer a lovely miniature oil lamp ball shade with pretty forget-me-not type enameled flowers with yellow centers and white leaves. The flowers are repeated three times around the center of the shade, all hand painted. The complete lamp is shown in the first Frank & Ruth Smith book "Miniature Oil lamps" Figure 444. A general rule of thumb is that a shade is worth 4/5 of the price of a whole matching lamp, and this shade is priced much lower than that as I have sold my collection and only have kept a few items. The inside of the shade has optic paneling. The shade has the standard 1 7/8 inch fitter rim which fits the ring of a Nutmeg or Acorn style burner and ring. It is about 4 inches tall and is approximately 3 3/4 inches diameter on the widest part of the shade.
I can tell by the fitter rim that the cranberry is flashed. The body of the shade was clear, then dipped into a layer of cranberry glass. See the fitter rim which is frosted on the inside. The top and bottom of the shade is factory ground. I can see a few trapped bubbles in the glass. There are no chips or cracks. This shade could be used on other lamps if desired as long as they use that type of burner. It would be lovely on a small silver plated base as well for example. It will be double boxed for secure transit. Check my shop for other items of interest. I am parting with the few miniature lamp things I have remaining in my collection.
