This unusual repousse sterling silver bacon fork is beautiful! These long handled forks are not found in all patterns and are sometimes referred to as sardine forks. Kirk's example has distinct tines, short in length, and seven (7) tines total.
It could easily be used for serving stuffed mushrooms or hors d'oeuvres to the delight of your house guests. It is definitely a charming piece and certainly would create a lot of positive discussion on its uniqueness.
The back of the fork bears the stamp "S. Kirk & Son Inc., Sterling". The handle is beautiful repousse with plain tines. The overall length of the fork is 7 ½ inches. The repousse handle is 6 inches long. The tines are 1 ¾" long X 2 ¾" wide.
The fork is in very good condition with minor scratches on the tines, circa 1800's.
