This pair of vases is fun to look at. Each of the vases has a figurine attached to the upper rim. There is a little girl dressed in full attire including her bonnet with a bow and tie around her curly hair. Her long dress is off white with delicate blue flowers overall. She has dainty little step heels on and is clutching her little "cloth" purse.
The other vase has a young fellow attached at the rim and he has a wide brim hat on with a green sash band around the top. He is wearing a ruffled collar with petal-pusher style pants with dainty little blue flowers – the same as the little girl's outfit. He is also wearing a pair of strap front shoes, mustard in color.
Both vases are rectangular shaped. The color of the vases is a combination of brushed gold on a gray green. Around the tops is a ridge of gold with a ball finial at each exposed corner. Just below the top rim is a pink swag ending in a drape at each corner.
I think these vases are absolutely adorable. The marks on the bottom are "Amphora – Austria - 20 - 1355 – Crown, and a vibrant blue A".
The vases are 7 ½" tall x 4" wide (from outer figurine to outer vase). The condition of the vases is very good with a small nitch on the bow tip of the girl's attire. There are no cracks or hairlines. There is some minor paint loss to the gold and green on the vases but this loss is actually under the glaze except for one area, this being on the front left side of the boy vase. I don't find it detracting in anyway to the overall appearance to these pieces. Circa 1900-1910.
