These two (2) antique sterling silver English fruit spoons are magnificent to look at. They were made in England around 1783. I recently purchased them from an elderly couple who inherited them from a family member. They provided me with a copy of the receipt of the purchase. The berry spoons were purchased from the Jules Golding & Co. in London, England in 1955.
The detail on the bowls is simply amazing! The raised fruit leaf motif is pristine. As you can see in the photos, the gold wash is still very vibrant. In addition, the handles both have etched decoration cascading down on the top side of the handles.
The stamps on the back of one spoon are as follows: "h" – Lion – Leopard's head with crown. The stamps on the back of the second spoon are as follows: "TW with an "i" – Lion – Leopard's head with crown.
The spoons are 8 1/4" long X 1 1/2" across the bowls. The condition of both spoons is very good, circa 1783.
