This man’s cigar cutter is unbelievably substantial in size and weight. Both the front and back faces (sides) of the handle are sterling silver panels. The mechanism and the back plates (abutting the inside of the sterling silver sides) are steel. The floral reposse are three dimensional and very impressive.
The mechanism that cuts the tip of the cigar is in fine working order. The word “Sterling” appears on both sides, followed by a stamp mark of a “star with a wing attached” plus the number “466”. The mark is "Herbst & Wassall", NY, NY a small, quality jewelry manufacturer from 1909 thru 1940.
The cigar cutter is 5 ¼” long X ½” wide, circa early 20th century. The cutter has certainly been used and appreciated. Its condition is good.
