This antique Canton platter was made in the Canton region of China around the late 18th century, early 19th century. As all early Canton China, this platter was hand painted in light to dark blue underglaze on a white ground. The design on this particular piece includes houses, mountains, trees, boats and bridges. The border on this platter features rain and cloud motif. I really like this platter because of its small size and the richness of the paint decoration. The bottom is orange peeled.
The platter is 10 ¾” long X 8 ½” wide X 1 1/8” high, circa 1790 – 1840.
The condition of the platter is very good, with some chipping around the rim of the platter. There are no cracks or hairlines.
