This early transferware fingerless cup & saucer is simply charming! The subject matter, on the outside foreground of the cup & saucer is of a maiden raking hay. In the background you can clearly see a house and men pitching hay. The interior decoration of the cup shows clusters of flowers alternating with scroll decorations. The decoration on the saucer is the same as that on the cup.
The mark on the bottom of the saucer reads “The Haymakers” and within the scrolled ribbon decoration, also on the bottom of the saucer, it reads “Jacksons Warranted”.
The cup is 3 ½” across X 2 ½” tall. The saucer is 5 ½” wide X 1 ½” high, circa 1830’s.
There is some roughage around the cup’s upper and lower rims and the saucer has a hairline crack from the upper rim to the bottom rim, not unusual for a piece of this circa.
