This is a beautiful metallic lace "Assuit" Egyptian lace shawl from the 1920's. It measures roughly 20" in width by 80" in length and features a banded silver metallic design throughout. These were very popular during the Egyptian Revival period of the 1920's.
This shawl was well cared for and is in excellent condition with no holes, snags or damage to the lace or the metallic designs. The metal is still bright a shiny, perhaps a bit of natural tarnish, but it was correctly stored to avoid any moisture damage or rust to the metal.
The design is geometrical in nature with diamonds and pyramids. Because of the outstanding condition of the shawl, I feel confident it could be worn with care. When stored I would recommend placing it between layers of tissue paper in a large zip lock bag.
