Sheer elegance describes this fabulous 1930's 14K yellow gold opal and diamond ring. This ring features a pale blue center opal that flashes shimmering red and measures 9.50 mm long x 6.30 mm wide. It is bezel set with an approximate weight of .72 carats. It is surrounded by twelve bezel set Old European cut diamonds measuring approximately 2.90 mm x 1.79 mm. Total diamond weight is roughly 1.08ct. The total weight of the ring is 3.66 grams. (These figures come from an old insurance appraisal)
The ring is a size 8 and is in excellent condition. The band has engraved decoration almost all the way around and on the underside of the diamonds. It has a low profile so it doesn't get caught up on pockets or sleeves. This ring actually belonged to my grandmother, she used to cut a fine figure at cocktail parties and always told me to, "hold the glass in the hand that wears the diamonds."
