This is a lovely little easel style tabletop standing frame meant for tourists at the turn of the last century. The frame measures 5 1/4" in height and 4 1/2" in width at the base. It is constructed of twisted square brass wire with leaf and flower accents. It holds a tinted photo attached to a round domed disc of glass of the Kloster Ettal in Oberammergau, Germany. The Kloster is still there and looks exactly the same as it did in this photo. the glass disc measures 2 3/4" in diameter.
The frame and picture are both in excellent condition. Because this was sold as a tourist item, there is no adjustment in the frame to change the picture. I suppose if you were determined you could carefully bend the frame to remove the disc and replace it with something else, but this frame as it is currently would be a very nice addition to any grand tour collection.
