This is a wonderful antique pair of Victorian men's lapel stud buttons or cufflinks monogramed with the initials MJC. They feature large 1 3/8" discs of mother of pearl that are in excellent condition with the working mechanisms of cufflink backs.
The engraving is just beautiful with the precision and delicacy of the Victorian era. The imaginative person could easily combine other elements of the era and fashion an outstanding brooch, necklace, or even earrings.
The mechanisms on the backs of the cufflinks appear to be made of brass and are dingy from age. There are no obvious maker marks, but there is a 0 on the underside of one piece and a + on the underside of the other piece.
