A lovely 12x16 oil on board by noted California vintage artist Sam Hyde Harris (1889-1977). Harris had a very long and distinguished career as an illustrator and plein air California artist, and he is written about in many of the books on these famous artists of the day. Harris' technique usually involved misty California days in the vast deserts of California, and these compromised some of his favorite subjects. I have a nice example here showing his love of the desert, with a mountain silhouetting the desert foreground of smoke trees and scrub brush. The painting is in excellent condition, and framed in a contemporary frame, ready to hang.
