Fine depiction of a barn, one that was painted many times over the years by artists in Pasadena. It is located down in the Arroyo Seco, and is still used as a location for artists to this day. This painting was painted by one of my favorite lesser known and recognized artists of the day, George Wallace Olson (1876-1938). I have had several paintings bu this artist over the years, and they have always been masterfully painted, with a high consistency of quality. This one is no different.
Wallace came to California in 1923, and exhibited for years in many of the shows and exhibitions of the day, until his early death in 1938. His paintings seem to be somewhat rare. This painting is housed in a period carved frame; it has been recently conserved and cleaned, and is in excellent overall condition. It is 16x20 in size-image only.
Another fine painting from the gallery of Vander Molen Fine Art. You may also find us on the web.
