Sweet and expressive little plein air painting of the California foothills, circa 1920's, by a talented artist of the day, George Kaumeyer (1856-1951). Painted on board, and obviously painted "en plein air" or outdoors on location, this little oil captures the romance and color of the California landscape very nicely. It has nice thick brushwork, and has been recently cleaned; this painting is housed in a contemprary plein air frame, making it a neat package of a painting for your collection. Kaumeryer painted for many years, but seems to be most active in the 1920's and 30's. He exhibited at many of the big exhibitions and venues of the day. I have seen only a few over the years, but my esteem for this artist and his quality of work is great. The image size of this painting is 9x12. Another fine painting from the gallery of Vander Molen Fine Art in California.
