Here's a real beauty for all of you. An original romance novel illustration by Robert A. Maguire (1921-2005) one of the real titans in pulp fiction illustration during the 20th century. He is believed to have painted over 600 cover paintings over a 50 year period, with his main heyday in the 1950's to 70's. Beautiful women in dangerous or romantic interludes were his forte. His long and illustrious career is a testament to his work ethic and talent. This is a classic example of his work; a major subject, all passionate and beautiful. Other protagonists in the novel are painted in the receding background. The painting is oil on illustration board, and has been framed beautifully, with a custom cut out of the major scene. In the lower left corner of the artwork is the actual book cover this was painted for. I'm sure this frame job cost a lot of money! Here is your chance to have a unique and fun artwork, representing the hey day of illustrated romance novels, by one of the greats in the genre. Offered by Vander Molen Fine Art, and is one of many artworks available from the gallery.
