Antique, Edwardian era little lightweight gold plated enamel, and glass rhinestone crescent lace pin, flower centered with a rhinestone, with green enamel leaves. It measures 1 x .75 inch. When inspected closely, one can see that the crescent moon is not quite in round, and that there are some tiny marks on one tip of the moon, perhaps someone straightened it, or was the cause for it getting out of true. It looks delightful when worn, but checking it over carefully shows it a bit skew. No actual damage or issues.

Lace or beauty pins became popular as the heavy clothing and materials of the Victorian era gave way to the light weight and filmy fabrics and laces and ribbons and veiling of the Edwardian era, and lightweight jewelry was needed, as well as small decorative pins to pin down the laces, veiling, and layers of Edwardian outfits. The older, heavier jewelry weighed those materials down and made them sag or tear, and were no longer fashionable, either.
