Antique, up to 1920, Italian wedding coverlet. bedspread, palest cream color, viscose and cotton thick jacquard weave, viscose fringes on three sides. It measures 90 inches long plus 6 inches of fringe, 84 inches wide plus 13 inches of fringe. It appears, by condition of the fringes, to have been laundered once. The fringes are slightly matted, as they get after the first cleaning. There is a mystery mark along one edge, shown, which may or may not come clean after nearly a hundred years storage. There are some lumps of thread sticking up, largest example shown. Priced accordingly. No other issues, no other marks, nicely stored. Shown a double or full bed; will not hang down as far on a queen.
This item is from a group of trousseau textile from one estate, textile saved from a mother married in 1920, and her daughter married in 1938, an Italian American household. Mother was born in Italy but emigrated here shortly before her wedding. I am listing today all the items found stored together in a chest, item numbers rl16447 through rl16469. Most found never used or laundered, some used but carefully put away and saved once no longer used.
