Set of eight antique European long dinner knives with none handles and German steel blades, Solingen. They measure ten and three eighths inches long. The blades are steel but not stainless steel, which was not used much prior to WWI. Because of this age and material, they have spotting and speckling as shown, nothing awful but typical of age and material. They are sharp and cut well. To care for them properly and get another hundred years out of them, do not immerse in water, but wipe down with a wet soapy sponged, rinse in hot water, and immediately dry with a towel completely, so that rust does not form. Cared for properly, steel blades last indefinitely. These type of bone handles look especially handsome with antique transferware and ironstone, ideal for American Farmhouse décor.
