Elegant and refined rare pair of early Derby porcelain oval sauciers with under-plates. Fabulously decorated with handpainted gilt foliate designs and topographical views. Loop handles attached to gilt lion head masks. Four gilt paw feet accented with lion head masks. Marked on the base with the iron red mark of the Derby Porcelain Manufactory and dating to around 1820. Also marked with the inscription "View In Westmoreland". Four different scenic views handpainted with superb detail. Two views titled "Near Verona,Italy" and two titled "In Germany". Sauciers measure approximately 6" long by 4" wide. Under-plates measures 8.5" long by 6.75" wide. The only issue to note is one handle has been repaired with old staples (see photo) and has to be handled delicately. I personally love pieces repaired this way and think it is part of the charm. These are wonderful for small flower arrangements.
