A charming British school antique watercolour portrait painting of a terrier dog---maybe a Manchester Terrier. I would call this a miniature painting as the dog measures 4" by 2.75". The painting is watercolour heightened by gum arabic on artist card. On the back is an old label for a picture framer in Brighton. It is possible there is a very faint signature on the lower right side next to the dog's shoulder---not sure and might just be my imagination (see photo #7). The terrier is very nicely done by a talented hand. The painting needs to be reframed, but I will leave that to the new owner to decide how large they would like it to be. Condition is generally good though some paper browning and light foxing visible. Framed the piece measures 13.25" by 11.25". Dates to the 1890's-early 1900's.
