Charming 19th century wool embroidery of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Probably after Landseer's painting of Queen Victoria's favorite companion 'Dash'. He is resting on his royal bed. The needlepoint measures 14" by 10.0" and has been framed in a complementary frame which measures 17.75" by 13.75.". Dating to around 1850, the piece is in very good antique condition with a few missing stitches here and there. It presents beautifully and the vivid colors are outstanding! The artist added flowers and foliage to the piece which makes it unique. This would look fabulous displayed with Victorian oil dog paintings!
Photos #4 and #5 were taken before the piece was framed.
