This early pincushion is a combined sewing and souvenir piece. Hand written in ink is "Devil's Lake, Wis." as you can see in picture #2. Perfect for the Wisconsin Dells collector. This pincushion is made from a branch of a birch tree. It still has some of the bark. It has a black or very dark blue velvet top. On the bottom is written in pencil "2/36 (?)" that you can see in the last picture. This pincushion is 2-1/4" tall with a 2-3/4" diameter. The base has a 2" diameter.
As you can see in picture #6, most of the nap is worn off of the velvet. It is still tight and does not have any holes.
