This set of candle holders are the Three Kings from the Christmas nativity story. They are made out of paper mache that is gold. Their skin color goes from dark to light. They each are carrying a gift. Two of the three candle holders have a tag on the bottom that states "Around the World - with J.A.C. - Japan". The candle holders are 9-3/4" tall x 3-7/8" wide x 2-7/8" deep. These candle holders are from the Mid Century Modern time period. They are from the 1960s.
They come in their original box with the original packing material. The box states on the top " 9" Papier Mache Candle Holder - 3 Kings". At the bottom it states "No. JC-217/G 1 Set - Japan". The original price tag is present. There is a note in pencil on the top that says "Gift from Eddie". The box is approximately 10-1/2" deep x 9" wide x 4-3/8" tall.
One King has a minor paint nick that can be seen in picture #9. You can also see it in the close up of the king in picture #2. It is just a paint rub, not a chip in the paper mache. The box shows some wear from being used year after year. There is a tear in one of the corrugated wrappings, but it still works.
