This set of 6 salad plates were made in Bavaria by the company Thomas. This mark, as seen in picture #8, was used from 1909 to 1939. It shows "Thomas in a shield and Bavaria under". These plates were hand decorated by Catherine Schroeder from Chicago in February of 1930. This can be seen in picture #9. Each plate except the lavender plate with violets are signed this way. The plates have a 7-5/8" diameter and are just over 3/4" thick.
These plates were used for decorative purposes. There are no scratches or scuffs. They are very pretty. Much nicer than my dark pictures show.
