This is one of two bisque head dolls I am listing this week, this one with eyes that brown eyes, and lids that open and close, open mouth with teeth showing, and bisque forearms and hands. Her body is kid and at the knee joint, there is a metal rod with button type ends which show on either side of the knee that allow the lower to bend backward at a 90 degree angle. I believe this is called a universal knee joint and the hip joint bends both ways and I believe it is called a Ne Plus Ultra hip joint. At the shoulders, a lot of the sawdust that was used to stuff the body has leaked out, and the tops of the arms are flat and held on by threads. The cloth legs below the knees have some stains on the cloths. The cloth appears to be linen or muslin.
On the back bisque shoulders, there is an impressed no 370, and letters and numbers below that and just above the kid which read (I think) M 4/0 71. There is another letter or number beyond the 1 but which is covered with kid body and cannot be revealed without tearing the kid. She has a white cotton dress, petticoat and pantaloons. The little finger on the left hand appears to be slightly chipped. Her face is in good condition with the exception of the eyelids where a bit of the finish has begun to flake off. Her beautiful feathery eyebrows are a fawn brown and in lovely original condition. Her hair also appears to be original.
I have shown the maximum number of pictures but if you want additional ones, please let me know and I will send you more. I will venture a guess that this doll is Armand Marseille and not being a doll expert, I am not sure. She is approximately 14" tall.
