Monumental porcelain charger, 15.5" in diameter, and marked on the reverse Occupied Japan with a small urn shaped symbol in red with Arita printed within the outline of the urn. Occupied Japan wares date between 1945-52. This handsome charger features a pair of birds of paradise with their long and elegant plumage highlighted in gold. They are perched among the flowering blossoms of cherry trees. The background is a dramatic red which contrasts nicely with a blue border. Underneath the pair is an abundance of floral images and the wide, dark blue border with more floral images as well. The charger is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or other issues.
