This old pewter spoon was but one piece in a large pewter collection, some of it numbered, some of it not. Maybe the collector just did not get around to identifying this piece. The spoon has a great deal of wear in the bowl, lots of pits and scratches. This form is probably early 1800s or perhaps even a bit earlier. The spoon itself, considering age, is in good condition in that it has no bent or broken parts and its shape has not been compromised. There are no marks, however, to aid in identification. The measurements for the bowl of the spoon are: 2 1/16" wide x 2 5/8" long. The handle which is pulled from the spoon and not a separate piece that has been attached is 4 3/8" long. This probably dates the spoon to a more recent time than one which was clearly joined at the back of the spoon bowl. The shape of the spoon bowl is a bit irregular, being a little longer on one side than the other. The piece is heavy, weighing just over 70 grams.
